Volunteers
Family Hospice has a special appreciation for people who serve as hospice volunteers. Our volunteers are key members of our team.
How Volunteers Help
• Providing respite for caregivers and families
• Visiting with and keeping patients company
• Keeping the patient environment clean, safe and inviting
• Educating families and patients
• Providing grief and bereavement support
• Organizing photos
• Helping record life stories
Training
Family Hospice volunteers are thoroughly prepared for their hospice experience. Patient care volunteers participate in 12 hours of initial training and ongoing inservice opportunties.
Who Can Volunteer?
People who are willing to listen and respond to people in a variety of situations make great hospice volunteers. We also work with volunteers who have specialized professional skills. The time commitment for volunteers is flexible and based on individual availability.
